Katherine Wood

Harmony | Painting by Katherine Wood

Katherine Wood

KW-150

A beautiful abstract painting by internationally acclaimed abstract artist Katherine Wood entitled Harmony featuring a tiger. This artwork is a framed mixed media on board.

A fusion of mixed media on canvas presents a 3D and textural abstraction interpretation of wide open landscapes. Mounted on a deep stretcher frame to enhance the depth perception, the artwork draws the viewer in from any approaching angle. Dedicating the majority of the canvas space to a dramatic and moody sky, vast expanses of open space present a complex combination of colour, texture, depth and light. To bring the horizon back into perspective, Katherine's signature is a small piece of natural vegetation, animal or otherwise, cleverly positioned to bring balance and perspective to her emotive and moving skies.

Each one of Katherine Wood's artworks is truly spectacular; each one an inspirational masterpiece.

Art Exhibitions

Klarity Art House December 2000 to December 2001

Having completed a BA Fine Arts Degree at Stellenbosch University, Cape Town, Katherine initiated an Art Studio for a group of local artists in Observatory, Klarity Fine Art Gallery. Klarity was an Art House which displayed an eclectic range of artworks from paintings, sculpture, photography, ceramics to oil paintings, video installations and performance pieces. The Art House held fortnightly exhibitions for local and international up-and-coming artists to host there first solo exhibitions or alternatively participate in group exhibitions.

Art Curator for the Exhibition: "Walking the Street" 6 April 2001 to 23 April 2001 Observatory, Cape Town

Katherine was the curator for a two week multi media art exhibition where the street and shops of Lower Main road were all turned into mini galleries. "Walking the Street" was the first South African art exhibition where an entire street hosted an exhibition for over 100 artists. With dividing energies between promoting South African artists and the growing success in delving into her own art Katherine decided to pursue a painting career full time and sold the Klarity premises.
