Rag woven in East Africa, made from offcuts of cotton from the garment industries and turned into high-end hand woven textiles on traditional African hardwood Hugh looms, our fabric is 100% recycled and hand crafted.
Using traditional techniques, our artisans are able to preserve the skills of their forbearers. The happiness, work ethic and pride of the weavers can be found in every carefully handcrafted and unique piece of cloth. The eclectic mix of natural fibres and modern fabric offcuts, together with the weavers’ natural sense of colour, is captured in their finely crafted product.
Each bean bag has a unique, inimitable thumbprint, so no two bean bags are quite alike, but in all cases their vibrant colours and artistry reflect the customs, culture and an outlook of the people who weave them.
Employing at least 4 villages and some 1 600 people, our bean bags are motivated by a wish to reduce the amount of unnecessary waste, while providing income for rural villagers and empowering people along the way.
The bean bags are available ‘flat-packed’, ready for easy and compact transportation. When you are back home you can then simply fill your bean bag with your chosen density of filler, as you would a cushion or pillow.
