About Artist
About Artist
Carla Bosch's life of colour began in 1976 in South Africa's capital, Pretoria. The city's famous annual carpet of purple jacaranda blossoms no doubt inspired the bold impressionism that would years later entrance art lovers.
After finishing an Interior Design diploma at the Tshwane University of Technology, Carla's love for painting took over. Hard work paid off as numerous well-recognised art galleries requested her work. Several of these galleries remain loyal supporters and have hosted successful Carla Bosch Solo Exhibitions.
The warmth and cheerfulness of her landscapes, coastal and street scenes are true to Carla's vibrant personality, and her giving nature is evident in her liberal use of bright colours. "I grew up in a very creative environment," she says. "My father, Anton Gericke, was a pharmacist by day and an artist by night. His love for life and all things beautiful spilt over to me."Â
Bosch loves painting plein air but is equally at home in her studio, where Carla prefers to use images more as reference points rather than images to paint exact replicas from. Carla enjoys giving her impression of the subject matter without referencing pictures. She approaches a blank canvas with absolute creative boldness.
Along with gallery owners and collectors, other artists have also recognised her talent and have wished to learn from her. She taught at the Original Art Company's art school and has presented workshops to artists and novices alike.
Bosch has won numerous international awards and is represented by leading galleries in South Africa and the USA, where she now resides.
