"Echoes of Strength" showcases the majestic presence of an elephant through a striking blend of form and abstraction. Using his signature expressive strokes, Anthony Gadd transforms this gentle giant into a living monument of memory, resilience, and ancient wisdom. The cool spectrum of steel blues and greys is contrasted by flickers of burnt orange, ivory, and sienna, evoking both the tranquility of dusk and the tension of survival.
The elephant's eye, tender and knowing, anchors the piece with quiet emotion. Gadd's layered brushwork reflects the texture of time etched into the animal's skin—like weathered maps of experience. There is movement in the stillness and power in the pause.
Drawing inspiration from the rugged contrasts of coastal landscapes and the elemental forces of nature, Gadd captures more than just anatomy; he evokes a profound presence. This is not merely a depiction of an elephant; it is a visual poem celebrating dignity, endurance, and grace under pressure.
"Echoes of Strength" resonates with collectors who appreciate depth and connection. This artwork commands attention not with volume but with its presence, inviting contemplation, reverence, and respect for the wild forces that shape us all.

About Anthony Gadd
Anthony Gadd has had a passion for art since his early school days in the Eastern Cape. A childhood spent roaming farms and interacting with wildlife gave him a deep respect for his environment, which he now translates into his South African landscape paintings.
A perfectionist at heart, Anthony Gadd chooses each subject's pose and composition carefully. But whether capturing intimate portraits of South African wildlife, an unspoiled landscape, or the sea's wildness, his work leaves room for surprise and playfulness. "My style has been described as loose, bold, and expressive. I treasure the 'happy accident' which brings gesture and freshness to each piece I create."
"I think I've matured from my original, more realistic style to become looser and more abstract." His approach includes doing most of his painting with four-inch brushes (the type used to paint a house) "so the brushwork has gesture and freshness."
Gadd has won the SA Society of Artists award for best-mixed media, holds permanent exhibitions in numerous galleries, has participated in several solo and group exhibitions, and is frequently commissioned. Gallery owners and art lovers can't get enough of his unique and dynamic approach to art.
Anthony works from his studio in Cape Town, is married to artist and author Ann, and has two children.
