Bullet the Wild Dog
Anthony's artistic creations pulse with vibrancy and spontaneity, a testament to his extraordinary ability to seize fleeting moments and delve into the minutiae of every detail. The dynamic strokes of his brush breathe life into his works, serving as a wellspring of inspiration for creativity and freedom. Anthony's fascination lies in the ever-shifting coastal and desolate landscapes, where he adeptly captures the dance of light and shadows, translating the dramatic flux of the environment with skillful precision.
In the masterpiece titled "Bullet the Wild Dog," Anthony elevates the concept of art beyond a mere visual representation. It functions as a conduit, guiding the viewer through a captivating sojourn into the untouched wilderness, as seen through the eyes of the artist. This painting encapsulates the very essence of Anthony's fervor for the dynamic beauty inherent in nature. Each brushstroke within "Bullet the Wild Dog" not only embodies the resilience of the wild dog but also serves as a poignant expression of the artist's profound connection to the surrounding world.
This artwork transcends conventional boundaries, offering not just a painting but an immersive visual expedition into the untamed wilderness, a testament to Anthony's unwavering passion for the ever-changing and resilient spirit of nature.
Anthony Gadd has had a passion for art since his early school days in the Eastern Cape. A childhood spent roaming farms and interacting with wildlife gave him a deep respect for his environment, which he now translates into his South African landscape paintings.
A perfectionist at heart, Anthony Gadd chooses each subject's pose and composition carefully. But whether capturing intimate portraits of South African wildlife, an unspoiled landscape, or the sea's wildness, his work leaves room for surprise and playfulness. "My style has been described as loose, bold, and expressive. I treasure the 'happy accident' which brings gesture and freshness to each piece I create."
"I think I've matured from my original, more realistic style to become looser and more abstract." His approach includes doing most of his painting with four-inch brushes (the type used to paint a house) "so the brushwork has gesture and freshness."
Gadd has won the SA Society of Artists award for best-mixed media, holds permanent exhibitions in numerous galleries, has participated in several solo and group exhibitions, and is frequently commissioned. Gallery owners and art lovers can't get enough of his unique and dynamic approach to art.
Anthony works from his studio in Cape Town, is married to artist and author Ann, and has two children.
