Explore the captivating world of Anthony Gadd's abstract wildlife creation, "Guardian of the Glade." This original oil painting on canvas showcases the vivid hues of the kudu`s alert posture and watchful gaze suggest that it is a protector of its territory. This name evokes a sense of power and nobility.

Anthony Gadd, driven by his artistic perfectionism, meticulously selects each subject's pose and arrangement. Described as bold, expressive, and delightfully unrestrained, his distinctive style captures the essence of 'happy accidents,' infusing his pieces with spontaneity and vibrancy.

With remarkable sensitivity, Anthony seizes fleeting moments in his art, encapsulating them with profound attention to detail. His brushwork breathes life into each work, evoking a sense of creativity and freedom. Drawn to the ever-transforming coastal and barren landscapes, he expertly crafts the interplay of light and shadows, translating the dramatic shifts of the environment.

"Guardian of the Glade " is more than a painting; it's a visual journey through the artist's eyes into the untamed wilderness. It captures the essence of Anthony's passion for nature's dynamic beauty.

About Artist

Anthony Gadd has had a passion for art since his early school days in the Eastern Cape. A childhood spent roaming farms and interacting with wildlife gave him a deep respect for his environment, which he now translates into his South African landscape paintings.

A perfectionist at heart, Anthony Gadd chooses each subject's pose and composition carefully. But whether capturing intimate portraits of South African wildlife, an unspoiled landscape, or the sea's wildness, his work leaves room for surprise and playfulness. "My style has been described as loose, bold, and expressive. I treasure the 'happy accident' which brings gesture and freshness to each piece I create."

"I think I've matured from my original, more realistic style to become looser and more abstract." His approach includes doing most of his painting with four-inch brushes (the type used to paint a house) "so the brushwork has gesture and freshness."

Gadd has won the SA Society of Artists award for best-mixed media, holds permanent exhibitions in numerous galleries, has participated in several solo and group exhibitions, and is frequently commissioned. Gallery owners and art lovers can't get enough of his unique and dynamic approach to art.

Anthony works from his studio in Cape Town, is married to artist and author Ann, and has two children.
