Renowned South African artist Anthony Gadd unveils the captivating essence of the African landscape in his original mixed media masterpiece, "Under African Skies." With vibrant hues depicting red earth and a misty blue sky. and iconic acacia trees, Gadd's artwork evokes a profound sense of place and the vastness of the African wilderness.

A perfectionist at heart, Gadd meticulously orchestrates each subject's pose and composition, infusing his signature style characterized by boldness, expressiveness, and a penchant for happy accidents. Through his skillful execution, he breathes life into moments captured in time, infusing each artwork with creativity, attention to detail, and artistic freedom.

Gadd's artistic journey is fueled by a deep connection to the ever-changing and untamed beauty of the sea and barren landscapes. His paintings eloquently portray the stark contrast of black patches of exposed rock against isolated white beaches, while the sea's shifting hues—from inviting turquoise to brooding dark and stormy blue—serve as a testament to nature's transformative power. These dramatic "changes in time" serve as inspiration, etched into Gadd's mind to be recreated within the confines of his studio, immortalizing the fleeting beauty of nature.

About Artist

Anthony Gadd has had a passion for art since his early school days in the Eastern Cape. A childhood spent roaming farms and interacting with wildlife gave him a deep respect for his environment, which he now translates into his South African landscape paintings.

A perfectionist at heart, Anthony Gadd chooses each subject's pose and composition carefully. But whether capturing intimate portraits of South African wildlife, an unspoiled landscape, or the sea's wildness, his work leaves room for surprise and playfulness. "My style has been described as loose, bold, and expressive. I treasure the 'happy accident' which brings gesture and freshness to each piece I create."

"I think I've matured from my original, more realistic style to become looser and more abstract." His approach includes doing most of his painting with four-inch brushes (the type used to paint a house) "so the brushwork has gesture and freshness."

Gadd has won the SA Society of Artists award for best-mixed media, holds permanent exhibitions in numerous galleries, has participated in several solo and group exhibitions, and is frequently commissioned. Gallery owners and art lovers can't get enough of his unique and dynamic approach to art.

Anthony works from his studio in Cape Town, is married to artist and author Ann, and has two children.
