Formally trained at the University of the Witwatersrand and the Michaelis School of Fine Art at the University of Cape Town, David Goldhill is a Cape Town-based artist whose work combines technical precision with powerful storytelling. After a successful career in Graphic Design and Retail Product Merchandising, he returned to Fine Art with a renewed commitment to painting as a form of narrative and cultural reflection.

Working primarily in oil on canvas, Goldhill’s distinctive style of Illustrative Realism explores South Africa’s social and cultural landscapes through layered compositions rich in symbolism, memory, and atmosphere. Influenced by artists such as Edward Hopper, Andrew Wyeth, and Richard Estes, his paintings merge realism with cinematic depth, inviting viewers into carefully observed worlds that reveal deeper meanings over time.

Each artwork is the result of extensive research, meticulous craftsmanship, and months of refinement — creating collectible works that resonate emotionally while reflecting both contemporary South African identity and universal human experience.
