Nicole van Rooyen has no formal training in art, but she has a profound love for it. Her father was an architect and lecturer with a particular fondness for the Italian Renaissance, while her mother is an artist and art teacher whose passion for color has greatly influenced Nicole's life.

Throughout her school years, Nicole was always sketching—typically drawing her shoes, hands, or feet. She went on to win multiple art competitions during this time. Despite her talent, she never considered studying art, as it felt like such an integral part of her life already.

Instead, she chose to pursue her passion for dance and became a qualified ballet teacher. A few years later, she began designing greeting cards and has since supplied retail stores with her beautiful creations.

Recently, Nicole has dusted off her pencils and brushes to explore fine arts with renewed enthusiasm. She enjoys creating everything from large abstract paintings to detailed watercolors and sketches. Now, she feels content and is excited to continue her explorations into motherhood and beyond, all while seeking to answer the pivotal question of how to maximize joy in her 24 hours each day. 

Nicole lives in Cape Town with the man of her dreams and their beautiful daughter.
